NCAA Tournament Update for Women

Tonight, the Gonzaga women took on the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. The Pitt Panthers prevail with a 65-60 win. It was a heart breaking loss for my Gonzaga Lady Bulldogs. They played their hearts out. I am sorry to see the season over, but mark my words this team is going to be good next year. I have no doubt about it. Tonight was the last game for both Jami Scheafer and Amanda Brown. These two players will truly be missed. I hate seeing the season end like this, but do look forward to the future. So that is it. May God bless each and every one of you and thank you Gonzaga women for an amazing season. Until next time. Peace out.

NCAA Tournament

Well March Madness is upon us and the NCAA tournament is my favorite thing about the month of March. Right now I have some of my favorite teams that are playing in the tournament. Those teams are Gonzaga men and women, Tennessee women, and Maryland women. Over the next couple of weeks, I will keep you updated about each of my favorite teams.

First off, let me start with the Gonzaga men. They have made it into the Sweet 16 with two exciting games that they played. In there first round game against Akron, they started out slow, but picked up the defense in the second half and won the game by 10+. Then in their second round game Western Kentucky gave them a run for their money and if it wasn't for a last second layup by Demitri Goodsen, I don't know if they could have pulled it out in overtime so I am glad for that last second layup. Next up is 1 seed University of North Carolina. I think this is going to be a good game and if Gonzaga can keep playing the game that they are playing, they could pull off a huge upset. The game is next Friday and I will be in front of my TV watching and cheering on my Zags.

Next is the Gonzaga women and they have had an amazing season. Saturday night they played in their second ever NCAA tournament game. Their opponent was the Xavier Musketeers. They are a very talented team with some skilled players, but the Lady Bulldogs played with no fear and tons of determination because they are moving on to the second round due to out playing Xavier. I slept with a smile on my face last night because of that win. There next game is tomorrow (Monday) against 4th seed University of Pittsburgh. I believe this game is going to be a close one, but I can smell another upset and can see the Lady Bulldogs moving on to the Sweet 16, but stay tuned until tomorrow night and I will update you about the game. Right now all I can say is Go Gonzaga G-O-N-Z-A-G-A.

Next up is the University of Maryland. There guard and post play by Kristi Toliver and Marissa Coleman are what have drawn me to this program. They are a 1 seed in the tournament and got an easy win today against Dartmouth. They will be playing in the second round on Tuesday against 9 seed Utah. I can't wait to see them play and am excited to see how far they can get in the tournament. This team is a huge contender to making the Final Four, but also the National Title Game. They have my support all the way.

Finally, the University of Tennessee played today against Ball State University. Tennessee is the 2 time defending national champions and have a huge target on their backs. Also, in Coach Pat Summitt's career, they have never lost a first or second round game. Tonight, the University of Tennessee was outplayed and the outcome is their first ever loss in the first round. Now I know this isn't an excuse, but this team was very young this year, and as they grow and gain more experiece and maturity, this team will be very good next year and the year after. So this game will go down in the history of the Women's College Basketball NCAA Tournament.

Well there you have it. Now this is just the beginning of the tournament so I will keep you posted as it progresses. Until my next update, this is T-Money signing off.

Gonzaga Women's Basketball

Well the first two months of the year 2009 are now over meaning winter is almost done, yeah. I am just ready for the snow to be gone and the sun out and shining. In Spokane this week, we will be getting some much needed rain and it will help the snow melt. So this is a good thing.

This past week has been a little emotional for me as my favorite Gonzaga female basketball player played in her last home game in a Gonzaga uniform last Saturday, Jami (Bjorklund) Schaefer. I didn't shed any tears, but on the inside it was a bittersweet moment. On another note, the team did great this year. They are the West Coast Conference Regular Season Champions. Now it is on to the conference tournament and the winner of the tournament has an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. So I will be routing them on as they go play next weekend down in Las Vegas, Nevada, wishing I could be there watching and cheering them on. Below I have posted some pictures from the final regular season game.

So there are some pictures. Other than that, work is going well and my life is going great. Well I am going to sign off, but until next time, be blessed.
